Money and Spiritual Life: The Surprising Connection

How we handle our money is a spiritual indicator of our heart

On Money Management:
For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. – 1 Timothy 6:10

Before you pay for it, pray for it.

On Contentment:
The most important things in life are not things.
Contentment means my happiness is not dependent on my circumstances.
God does not provide you your greeds, only your needs.

I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. – Philippians 4:12

On Worrying:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

On Asking:
For every promise, there is a premise.

You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. – James 4:2

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19

On Giving:
A joyful Christian is a good advertisement of the Lord.
God will do his part, you do yours.

The Sowing and Reaping Principle:
Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
