WPT and Solaire Resort and Casino Team Up for Momentous Poker Festival

On October 16-28, the poker world will turn its attention to the Philippines as the World Poker Tour® makes its first official stop in the country for the WPT® National Philippines at Solaire Resort and Casino.

Easily the most recognizable poker brand on the planet, the WPT has been instrumental in catapulting the likes of Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu and lone Filipino WPT Champions Club member Noli Francisco on the poker world map, and this momentous undertaking in the western Pacific will shift the entire spotlight on the archipelago and its vast pool of local talent. WPT National Philippines will be the first stop in a brand new, mutually beneficial five-year relationship between the World Poker Tour and a country long regarded as one of Asia’s poker hotbeds.

“The World Poker Tour continues to expand across the globe, and the Philippines is a luxurious destination,” said WPT President Adam Pliska. “Solaire Resort and Casino is a first-class venue where both local and foreign players will have a great time on and off of the felt.”

Solaire is a casino powerhouse in the Philippines, and a perfect venue for the World Poker Tour to host a near two-week long WPT Poker Festival. A private paradise, Solaire offers luxury style and comfort with world-class bayside villas, suites and deluxe rooms.

“We are constantly creating ways for our guests to have the ultimate resort experience, so hosting the largest and most recognizable poker tour in the world only comes naturally for us. Solaire is about creating moments, and the WPT is going to provide many powerful moments for everyone involved.” says Thomas Arasi, President and Chief Operating Officer, Solaire Resort and Casino.

This unprecedented partnership was brokered by promoter Mike Kim, a Korean-American who has established himself as one of poker’s most recognized visionaries.

“The Philippines has always been the hub for this region, whether it’s for travel, trade or culture,” said Mike Kim, “so it just makes complete sense to have an international event in a country that has so much more to offer than any other destination in Asia.”

Highlighting the festivities is the Main Event, where players from across the globe will compete for big cash prizes and points in the coveted Season XIII WPT Player of the Year race. The $2,200 buy-in event kicks off on October 25, and there are a myriad of exciting side events planned for the WPT Poker Festival, including a much-anticipated High Roller.

WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage, poker legend Mike Sexton, and the Royal Flush Girls are among the contingent arriving in famed Manila Bay for the endeavor.

Satellites starting as low as 300 PHP to the Main Event are ongoing at Solaire’s lush poker room. Details of all satellites and a full schedule of events can be found on Solaire’s website.

Expect fireworks this October as the World Poker Tour and Solaire create a poker experience the likes of which have never been witnessed in the Philippines.
